WelcomeThe Choir of the West is the premier choral ensemble at Pacific Lutheran University, located in Tacoma, Washington. Founded in 1926, the choir was the third Lutheran college choir to tour extensively throughout the United States. Choir of the West has toured Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and China, and has performed at several state, division and national conferences of the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association. PLU Multimedia Recordings had its genesis in 1984 when Martin Neeb, Executive Director of University Communications; Bob Holden, Director of Audio Services; Jeffrey Bruton, Assistant Director of
LP and cassette, and performed by Choir of the West and organist David Dahl. Since that time we have release twenty four albums with many of them still listed in our catalog and available on CD. Our current model is to record one album each year. A Christmas album is released from “the best of’ the two previous Christmas season’s recordings in alternating years with a non-Christmas CD of music also “the best of” from the two previous concert seasons. ChoraleThe Pacific Lutheran University Chorale is a mixed choir comprised primarily—though not exclusively—of freshmen and sophomore singers spanning a variety of academic disciplines. The choir meets four days a week for a ninety-minute rehearsal and sings many times each year in concerts, tours, and campus ministry events.
