  • Assistant Professor of Biology | Department of Biology | lnervo@plu.edu | 253-535-7376 | My discipline of interest is developmental biology, which is the study of the processes needed for animals and plants to grow and develop.  Developmental Biology is an excellent field that intersects, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, physiology and comparative anatomy to answer key organismal growth questions.

rearrangements during cell migration, cell shape changes and cell-cell interactions affect tissue formation. My research combines developmental biology, cellular biology and genetics and uses embryo development in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster (Drosophila) to determine how individual cell behaviors can affect 3 dimensional tissue architecture.

It is not necessary to read the book to join the discussion but it might enable one to more fully participate in the conversation! It is available in the US at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. It’s also available in all major bookstores in the UK, and

worked for six months in the industry; but my call to be a musician [fortunately] prevailed. I love languages. I also like to walk, which is when I get my best ideas. Coffee has been my morning drink since I was four or so; needless to say, I never quit! What’s your experience been like so far at PLU? My first interactions with students, staff and faculty have been the best possible. I see in our students a sincere desire to expand their worldview and to succeed. I feel truly blessed to join the PLU

dance, mingle, meet new students, and just have a good time. We’re super stoked for that, especially for folks who didn’t really have in-person interactions with other students last year. How does the ongoing pandemic affect the work of RHA? Last year we had to shift mainly to online and social media platforms, which made it very difficult to get a lot of engagement. There just wasn’t a lot of energy. This year, we’re excited to be back on campus, but we’re really being mindful of safety regulations
